June Anderson (Helsel) passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026 with her loving husband, Larry by her side. She was 92. Born November 13, 1933 to Earl and Dorothy (Park) Helsel, and raised in Pioneer Township, Michigan. June was one of nine siblings in a family rooted in the Christmas tree business.
June, the oldest of her siblings, was stubborn in the way that only people from Pioneer Township are - firm in her opinions, unwavering in her standards, and absolutely certain she knew the right way to do things. But beneath that strong will was a heart that loved and cared deeply.
June and Larry lived a peaceful life in Fletcher in the home she had meticulously designed. They loved sitting on the porch together, enjoying the life they built side by side. They were married for 60 wonderful years.
Her unmatched skill in the kitchen and garden are lasting legacies, passed down through generations. Her raisin pie was divine, and her yeast rolls - always warm and perfectly made were everyone’s favorite at the table. When her family sees a well tended flower garden, they will think of her.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Larry, who cared for her every need until the very end. She is also survived by her children; Schrie Scanlon (Johnny Jones), Debbie (Scott) Huzinga, Mike (Cathy) Scanlon, Kim Redman, Teresa (Dan) Benes, and Mindy Hankins and her spouse; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Orlena “Tyke” Beerens, Earl “Mann” (Sylvia) Helsel, Edwin "Eddie" (Judy) Helsel, and Charlie (Margie) Helsel; and her sisters and brothers-in-law; June Helsel, Terri Helsel, Karen Anderson, Susan Lehr, Dory Anderson, and Tom (Jan) Anderson.
June was preceded in death by her siblings, Floyd “Lolly” Helsel, Roland “Bubber” Helsel, Clifford “Kippy” Helsel, and Coralie “Sissy” Murray, as well as Pete Anderson and Chuck Anderson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Young-Holdship Funeral Home. Interment will take place in the spring at Lake City Cemetery.
